The Fall River School Committee is pleased to announce the appointment of Elizabeth Legault as Interim Deputy Superintendent of Fall River Public Schools.

The Interim Deputy Superintendent position is a newly established role within the district, designed to strengthen leadership and support key operational areas. In this role, Legault will oversee the Human Resources Department and play a critical part in advancing district-wide initiatives.

The Fall River School Committee has appointed Dr. Kathleen Smith as Interim Superintendent of Fall River Public Schools following a vote during its Regular Meeting on Wednesday evening. Dr. Smith will begin her role on May 1, 2026.

Durfee High School had a strong presence on Beacon Hill last week as students and staff joined educational leaders, partners, alumni, and legislators from across the Commonwealth for Early College Advocacy Day. This annual gathering at the Massachusetts State House highlights the statewide impact of Early College programs and amplifies student voices in shaping the future of college and career pathways.

Last week, the Kuss Boys Basketball team and the Morton Girls Basketball team were recognized by the Fall River City Council for being the Middle School All-City Champions!

Last week, there were a few extra students and staff in the hallways at B.M.C. Durfee High School. For the fifth year in a row, the school hosted a group from Porto, Portugal.
